Shivani Prakash is a first-year associate in the Intellectual Property group at Akin, where she focuses on patent litigation and diligence matters.
Panelists:
Larry Kass is Counsel at Steptoe LLP, where his practice focuses on complex patent matters before US district courts, the Federal Circuit, and the PTAB. He has extensive experience representing clients in post-grant proceedings and appeals involving pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical technologies, regularly handling matters from small molecule drugs to sophisticated biologics. Before his legal career, Larry worked as a research scientist developing processes for efficient refining and cleaner fuels, and he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alvin A. Schall at the Federal Circuit.
Jihong Lou is an associate in the DC office of Quinn Emanuel. Her practice focuses on intellectual property litigation and appeal, with a particular emphasis on cases involving pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and diagnostics. Jihong also represents clients in post-grant proceedings before the PTAB. Jihong previously clerked for Judge Lourie on the Federal Circuit.
Scott B. Amankwatia is an associate at The Marbury Law Group, where he focuses on intellectual property litigation, patent preparation, and prosecution, with an emphasis on design rights. His technical experience spans mechanical, electro-mechanical, battery, software, automobile, and medical device technologies. Scott has represented petitioners in inter partes and post-grant review proceedings before the PTAB, involving technologies such as cybersecurity and solar panels.
Laura Vu is an associate in the Intellectual Property group at Haynes and Boone. She previously clerked for Judge Raymond T. Chen of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the PTAB, and was formerly a primary patent examiner. Her practice focuses on appeals to the Federal Circuit and post-grant proceedings before the PTAB.
Patrick Maloney is an experienced PTAB litigator who has handled over 150 post-grant proceedings spanning a wide variety of technologies including telecommunications, data storage, electronics, antennas, streaming media, and medical devices and diagnostics. His practice also includes district court patent litigation and appeals to the Federal Circuit.
